Visitor FAQs

What are your hours of operation?
We are open weekdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Weekends from 10 am to 5 pm.  We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.  We do suggest you check out our website’s homepage or social media if there is questionable extreme weather (i.e. snowstorms or hurricanes)  before your visit.  If we have to close due to extreme weather we would have that listed on the homepage and social media sites.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
You don’t need to purchase them in advance but can do so by clicking HERE.

Must I print my tickets?
No! Just bring your voucher up on your phone (so we can scan the barcode) and you’re all set! We suggest you take a screen capture of your barcode so there’s no problem should there be a WIFI issue.

I’ve called and left a message and no one has called me back!
We’re very sorry for any delay! We are working with a reduced staff and doing our best to answer each and every call.  It does sometimes take a day or two, but we have every intention of returning all calls. If this is something that can’t wait, please email us at info@amwny.com.  Please make sure if you do leave a message for our reservations team, you include the best number to call you back.

I want to come with a group, do you offer special rates?
Group rates are available for groups consisting of 15 people or more all arriving at the same time. A prior reservation must be made at least 24 hours in advance with one person paying for the entire group. To learn more, call 631.208.9200, ext. 426.

Our Sea Lion Shows start promptly at 10:30, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm and 4pm (on weekends and holidays). This 15-minute show is a closed-door one with no re-entry permitted during the show. The sea lion show is first come, first serve, so please head to the Sea Lion Coliseum at least 5-10 minutes before showtime so you get a seat!  Click here for our complete Daily Events Schedule.

Are exhibits closed when it rains?
Most of our outdoor exhibits are open year-round. As long as you don’t mind getting wet, you are able to watch the Sea Lion show, see the penguins, the otters, and all of our outdoor habitats.

Do you ever cancel the Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat?
As per Coast Guard regulations, we cannot operate while small craft advisories are posted for the eastern Long Island Sound. The Boat Captain retains the right to cancel the trip for any legitimate reason (weather, mechanical, etc.). If that situation does arise, we will make every effort to contact you immediately to reschedule your trip or you may request a full refund.
